How to use click to chat
Learn how to use the Click-to-Chat feature to start conversations with contacts.
Click-to-Chat lets you start a conversation from a link or QR code, without saving the other person's number as a contact first.
Share your Click-to-Chat link or QR code
- Open HiYou and go to Settings.
- Tap the QR code icon in the top bar.
- Tap Share to send your link, or Copy link to copy it, or Save to save the QR code image.
- Open HiYou and go to Settings.
- Tap the QR code icon in the top bar.
- Tap Share to send your link, Copy link to copy it, or Save to save the QR code image.
Anyone who opens your link, or scans your QR code, can start a private chat with you right away.
Start a chat from a link or QR code
Tap a HiYou chat link someone sent you, or scan their QR code. If the link identifies a specific person, HiYou opens a chat with them directly - any message text in the link is placed in the composer so you can review it before sending.
If the link names a phone number that isn't a registered HiYou account, you'll see an error with a Retry button instead of a chat. If the link has no phone number or account attached at all, you'll be asked to choose a registered contact to start the chat with.
