How to edit a message
Fix a typo or change what you sent, within 15 minutes.
You can edit your own text messages for up to 15 minutes after sending. Editing a photo, video, or other attachment's caption does not change the file itself, and some message types - like polls - can't be edited at all.
- Press and hold the message you want to edit.
- Tap the pencil icon in the top bar.
- Make your changes.
- Send to save the edit.
- Press and hold the message you want to edit.
- Tap Edit.
- Make your changes.
- Send to save the edit.
Edited messages show an Edited label next to the timestamp, visible to everyone in the chat. After 15 minutes, the edit option is no longer offered.
