How to create and vote in polls

Create a poll, choose whether to allow multiple answers, and vote in a HiYou chat.

Polls let people in an individual or group chat choose between options and see the results together.

Create a poll

  1. Open the chat and tap the attachment icon beside the message box.
  2. Tap Poll.
  3. Enter a question and at least two options.
  4. Tap Add option if you need more choices.
  5. Turn Allow multiple answers on if people may select more than one option.
  6. Tap Create poll.

A poll can contain 2–10 non-empty options. The question and each option can contain up to 100 characters. Blank options are left out when the poll is created.

You cannot edit the question, options, or multiple-answer setting after sending. Check the poll before creating it. To remove it from the conversation, use the normal message-delete action.

Vote in a poll

  1. Open the chat containing the poll.
  2. Tap an option to vote.
  3. For a multiple-answer poll, tap additional options to select them or tap a selected option to remove it.
  4. Tap a different option if you want to change a single-answer vote.

Your latest selection replaces your previous selection. HiYou does not let you remove your final selected option entirely, but you can switch it to another option. In a multiple-answer poll, you can remove choices as long as at least one remains selected.

View results

Each option shows its current vote count and a progress bar. Tap the total vote count at the bottom of the poll to see which participants selected each option. In a multiple-answer poll, one person may appear under more than one option, so the displayed vote total counts selections rather than unique voters.

Poll votes update for everyone in the chat. If a vote cannot be saved, HiYou shows an error and keeps the previous result.
