How to exit a group as a member
Leave a group chat and understand what happens to your messages.
- Open the group's chat info screen.
- Tap Leave group.
- Tap Leave to confirm.
Leaving removes you from the group - you stop receiving its messages. Your own messages already sent are not deleted; they stay visible to the members who remain. If you are the group's only admin and others remain after you leave, the oldest remaining member becomes admin automatically so the group always has one.
