How to clear chats
Learn how to clear all messages in a chat without deleting the chat itself.
Clearing a chat removes its messages and call history from this device only. The chat stays in your chat list, and other participants keep their own copy of the conversation.
Clear one chat
- Open the chat you want to clear.
- Tap the ⋮ icon in the top bar.
- Tap Clear chat.
- Tap Clear to confirm.
- Open the chat you want to clear.
- Tap the ⋯ icon in the top-right corner.
- Tap Clear chat.
- Tap Clear chat again to confirm.
Clear all chats at once
Go to Settings, then Chats, then Chat history, and tap Clear all chats. This removes messages, calls, and media from every chat on this device - the chats themselves stay in your list, but empty. This can't be undone.
