How to delete chats
Learn how to delete chats from your chat list.
Deleting a chat removes it, and its message history, from your chat list on this device only. Other participants keep the chat and their own copy of the conversation.
Delete a chat
- Press and hold a chat in your chat list.
- Tap any other chats you also want to delete.
- Tap the trash icon at the top.
- Tap Delete to confirm.
- Press and hold the chat you want to delete.
- Tap Delete chat.
- Tap Delete chat again to confirm.
On Android you can select several chats before deleting them together. On iPhone, delete chats one at a time, or use the bulk option below.
Delete all chats at once
Go to Settings, then Chats, then Chat history, and tap Delete all chats. Every chat is removed from your list on this device; other people keep their copy. This can't be undone.
