About reporting and blocking on HiYou

Understand what happens when you block a person or report a user or group on HiYou.

Blocking and reporting are separate safety tools. You can use either one without the other, and reporting someone does not automatically block them.

What happens when you block someone

When you block a person:

  • They can no longer call you or send you messages.
  • HiYou does not send them a notification that you blocked them. If they try to message or call you, they just see a failed-delivery message, which can hint that a block happened without confirming it.
  • They appear under Settings > Privacy > Blocked Accounts.
  • You can unblock them at any time from the chat details or Blocked Accounts.

Blocking is available for individual accounts. It does not report past behavior to HiYou for review.

What happens when you report someone

You can report an individual account or a group from its chat details. When you submit a report, HiYou sends who you're reporting and your reason for review - not your message history. The reported person or group is not notified.

Adding a short reason is optional, but it can help explain the problem. Reporting does not remove the chat, make you leave a group, or prevent the account from contacting you. Block the person separately if you also want to stop direct calls and messages.

Official broadcast channels do not show the report action. If a report fails, HiYou displays an error and it may not have been submitted; try again when you have a connection.

After you report

HiYou may review the submitted information and take action under its rules. A report does not guarantee that an account or group will be removed, and the app does not show a case-status tracker.

If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency service. Preserve any information you may need before deleting a chat or message.
