How to change your privacy settings
Control last seen, read receipts, saved media, screen security, blocked accounts, and connected apps.
Open HiYou, go to Settings, then tap Privacy. Changes to Last Seen and Online and Read Receipts are shared through your account. Device controls such as Save to Photos, Screen Security, and App Lock apply only on the device where you change them.
Last Seen and Online
Tap Last Seen and Online, then choose:
- Everyone - any HiYou user can see this information.
- My contacts - only people in your contacts can see it.
- Nobody - no one can see it.
If you restrict this information, you also won't be able to see other people's online status or last seen time.
Read Receipts
Turn Read Receipts off if you don't want to send read receipts. When it is off, you also can't see other people's read receipts. This setting does not remove your own unread-message badge.
Save to Photos
Turn Save to Photos on to automatically save received photos and videos to your phone's photo library. HiYou may ask for photo access the first time you enable it. If access is denied, the setting stays off.
Screen Security
Screen Security limits what other people can capture or see outside HiYou.
- Turn on Screen Security to block screenshots and screen recording inside HiYou and hide HiYou content in the recent-apps preview.
- Turn on Screen Security to hide HiYou content in the app switcher and while the screen is recorded or mirrored.
- iOS does not allow an app to block screenshots directly.
Widget previews on iPhone
On iPhone, Show Previews in Widget controls whether the home-screen widget shows the sender and message text for unread chats. Turn it off to show only an unread count. Android does not currently show this setting.
Blocked Accounts
Tap Blocked Accounts to review people you have blocked, unblock someone, or use the add-person button to block a contact. A blocked person can no longer call you or send you messages and is not notified that you blocked them.
App Lock and Connected Apps
- App Lock requires a four-digit PIN when HiYou opens. You can optionally use your device's biometric unlock as a shortcut.
- Connected Apps lists services that you have authorized to connect to HiYou. Open an entry when you want to remove its access.
