How to add, edit or delete a contact
Add a phone contact from HiYou and manage existing contacts on Android or iPhone.
HiYou does not have a separate Contacts tab. Your phone contacts appear on the Select Contact screen, which opens from the new chat button on the Chats tab. The button names below match the English app interface.
Add a contact
- On the Chats tab, tap the New chat button.
- On the Select contact screen, tap New contact at the top of the list.
- This opens your phone's Contacts app. Enter the details there and save.
- Return to HiYou. The new contact does not appear automatically, so open the menu and tap Refresh.
- On the Chats tab, tap the compose icon.
- On the Select Contact screen, tap New contact.
- Fill in the details in the form that appears and tap Done.
- The list updates on its own. If it does not, pull down to refresh, or open the menu and tap Refresh.
Edit or delete a contact
Editing and deleting are only available from an existing chat, not from the Select Contact screen.
- Open your chat with that person.
- Open the chat info menu and tap Edit contact.
- This opens your phone's Contacts app, pre-filled with their name and number. Make your changes and save there.
- HiYou has no delete option. To remove the contact, delete them from the same screen in your phone's Contacts app.
- Open your chat with that person.
- Open the chat info menu and tap Edit contact name.
- Make your changes in the form that appears and tap Done to save, or use the form's own delete action to remove the contact.
If contacts are unavailable, allow Contacts access for HiYou in your phone's system settings.
